The stick is made in a Gabonese Ebony. The ebony is the result of a disease in the heart of some trees in Africa. Attacked by this disease, the heart of the tree goes rotten and the other parts of the tree become hard and black. The word ebony is derived from the Latin ebenus, coming from the Greek ebenos wich indicates already this wood. As of the pharaonic Egypt, this wood was used to create small precious objects. The ebony was firstly found again in the spicies roads at the entrance of the Indian ocean. The intensive exploitation began around 1640 when the English and French loaded clandestine ships with this precious wood so much searched by cabinet makers in the 18th century. The Dutch will be specialist in this business and will sell the precious wood all around Europe.

Le pommel of the cane is made with a Banksia nut with inlayings of silver and tin. This alloy guarantees the brightness of the inlayngs and an exceptional longevity thanks to a patented process developped by Pierre Création. This process guarantees a perfect homogeneity between the wood and the precious metals. The Banksia nut is the fruit of an Australian plant famous for her beautiful wild flowers. The Banksia nut is used to produce decoration articles with woodturning. Before turning, the nut is more or less like a big pine cone of 20 cm of high hardness. In the cavities, Pierre Création inserted the alloy of silver and tin which is really good integrated.

The wood cane is the ultimate realtisation for each woodturner because you have to do the bole of the stick perfectly without any problem. The cane must be perfectly straight and it's with an out of ordinary talent that a woodturner can do it with a high quality. Pierre Création is the prize winner of the contest La Vitrine de l'Artisan 2006 for one of his outstanding canes. This competition rewards the best craftman in the French part of Belgium (Wallonia and Brussels).
