The House Pierre Création created a prestigious stick for the Pope Benedict XVI

After nearly twenty years as computer scientist in a company, Pierre Vanherck gave a new direction in his career making his passion for wood, his new job.
Formed by the companionship at the best workers-craftsmen of France, specialized in the contemporary high end furniture and in art of turned wooden, it is in 2004 that Pierre Vanherck specializes in the realization of prestigious sticks.
This passion led him to create a whole collection of sticks in 2005 and to sign his work under the name « Pierre Création » in 2006. These sticks are exceptional jewels whose particularity is to associate precious woods (ebony, amourette wood, rosewood, mopani) and precious metals as well as, if necessary, a setting of precious stones such as diamonds.
The success did not wait. Pierre Vanherck gets in touch with Jean-Paul Gaultier to give his sticks to models during the fashion show making this object a real luxury and fashion accessory. Moreover, his works are worldwide exhibited, in Tokyo, Monaco or still in Italy, leading many personalities, such as Baron de Rothschild to become customers.
The end of year 2009 was for this craftsman even more exceptional.
Indeed, the House Pierre Création was contacted in October by the AWEX – the Walloon Agency for Export – to create a prestigious stick for Pope Benedict XVI.
Very simple, this stick was made of Indian rosewood for the bole and in ebony from Gabon for the knob. In addition, working the sapwood – the layerjust after the bark and before the duramen – of the ebony, Pierre Vanherck was able to highlight a small white spot, impossible to reproduce on the another knob. This stick is placed in a box of cherry-wood, a tree which he brought down five years ago in the « Bois Planté » of Bois-Seigneur-Isaac.
The realization of this type of stick asks more than thirty hours. The finishes take more time. Indeed, the craftsman puts fifteen layers of an oil made by a mixture of paraffin, beeswax and a third secret ingredient; ten layers are put under heat and five under cold, with between every layer, a polishing and depolishing.
This technique impregnates the stick « in the heart » and gives the sensation to touch the noble material of the wood.
This unique work was presented to the Pope in the end of December by the Walloon Minister of Economy, Jean-Claude Marcourt.
The execution of this commission was a real challenge for Pierre Vanherck the Master Craftmen of the House Pierre Création.
He still hopes many others.
The House Pierre Création has signed a cooperation agreement with the “Diamond Culture” company. This cooperation will give him the opportunity to offer even more prestigious and exclusive sticks where precious woods will be associated with very precious diamonds. These sticks will be showed at the International show of the Diamond in Antwerp in February 2010.
